Roadworks’s Media’s workshops and services are underpinned by our core pillars: Deter, repair and empower.
Deter: We provide positive opportunities for young people to engage in the arts, using creative writing, documentary making and film production workshops, to develop life skills that supports young peoples communication, relationships, education and employment opportunities.
Repair: Provide young people with a platform to express themselves, allowing the space for young people to share their stories and experiences, through engaging in the arts.
We provide a space for young people to feel listened to and to share their experiences improving young peoples self esteem, in that they have something to offer and contribute to their communities. This is done through providing a space for young people to exhibit their art, in doing so, engaging back with their community and providing dialogue with their neighbours, breaking down stigma and separation.
Empower: Young people get to develop their skills building on their strengths, providing them with alternative options, direction and choice for their lives to make informed decisions.
Roadwork’s media aim moving forward is to create paid roles for young people who have completed our workshops, to facilitate a peer lead training -sharing their skills and passing learning and experience forward.
