6-Week Squash the Beef Podcasting Workshop
The Squash the Beef Podcasting Workshop is a creative 6‑week podcasting journey for young people passionate about storytelling, social change, and self‑expression. Through a blend of practical training and professional mentorship, participants will learn how to plan, script, record, edit, and share their own short podcasts that explore issues that matter to them and their communities.
Participants will learn:
Podcasting Fundamentals – They will learn what makes a podcast work, from structure and style to flow and audience connection.
Storytelling and Scriptwriting – They will develop short, powerful narratives that capture attention and share authentic experiences.
Recording and Editing – They will be supported to gain confidence using microphones and free software tools to record, edit, and mix professional‑sounding episodes.
Branding and Distribution – They will learn how to add music, create logos, format episodes, and upload their podcast for public listening.
Presentation and Engagement – They will practice speaking with confidence, preparing introductions, and promoting your work online to connect with audiences.
Mentorship and work experience
Each participant will receive dedicated guidance from media professionals who share their expertise in radio, podcasting, and digital storytelling. Weekly mentor sessions provide feedback and industry insights to help participants refine their creative ideas and technical skills. The workshops feature practical, hands‑on sessions in planning, recording, and editing—offering real experience of what it takes to produce a professional podcast series.
Showcase and recognition:
By the end of the programme, every participant will produce a series of 2–3 minute podcasts exploring real social themes and personal perspectives. Final work will be presented to community partners in a public showcase event celebrating the voices, creativity, and social messages of each creator.
